Why AnaChef was born
Some years ago I was looking into a small business: a bakery for healthy bread. It never got off the ground, but it led me somewhere else. I noticed that the daily question in our home was no longer "what shall we cook today?" It had become "where shall we order from today?"
The Saudi family table used to be where the whole family met, whatever their ages. Then home cooking faded, quietly. Today a family is more likely to think about ordering a ready meal from a phone than about stepping into the kitchen. I know this change is not new. I had simply never paid attention to it, or perhaps I had been part of it without noticing.
I set the bakery aside and started asking a bigger question: how do we give home cooking its place back, and how do we bring people back to their kitchens because they want to, not because they have to?
The answer I arrived at is that the starting point is not the recipe. It is the person behind it. Recipes alone do not build a community or keep a heritage alive. People do. In every home there is a cook who deserves to be called a chef, still in the kitchen, waiting for a community that knows their worth.
That is why the AnaChef app was born. Not only to keep recipes, but to build a community that believes the most important thing in our kitchens is the people who cook in them. They are the stars, they are the creators, and they are the reason a family comes back to gather around the table and start making memories again. AnaChef is a tool that lets a home cook publish their favourite recipes under their own name, so that others can find them, try them, rate them, save them, and even share them.
Our aim is for the question to return to our homes: "what shall we cook today?" And when it does, God willing, we will not measure our success by the number of recipes, but by the number of home kitchens that came back to life, and the number of family tables that loved ones gathered around again.
